Jester Point-Jester Estates
Jester Point/Jester Estates
The Jester neighborhood is located just ten miles from downtown Austin, the State Capital, the University of Texas and three of Texas’ most popular recreational lakes. Jester Estates is an extremely quiet community with amazing hill country views and places to enjoy nature at its finest. Jester is bordered on three sides by the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve near the junction of RM 2222 and Loop 360 in the midst of the Texas hill country. It takes around 20 minutes to get to downtown Austin; the airport is approximately 20 miles from Jester and is a 25-40 minute drive, depending on traffic.
Jester is a desirable single-family home community first developed in the late 1970's. The lots here are sought after for the beautiful views, but due to the way Jester was designed, you'll find many cul-de-sacs and circles, providing private streets with low traffic in this quiet neighborhood.
Most of the 900 homes in Jester Estates were built in the early 1980's through the early 2000's. You'll find homes that built by high-end production builder's like Brighton and Jim Rado/Weekley, as well as custom builders. Like many neighborhoods, there are several different sections in the community - Jester Estates, Jester Point and Canyon Ridge.
The homes range from approximately 1,800 to over 5,000 square feet, with most homes in the 2,800 to 3,500 square foot range.
Located within the Austin Independent School District, students attend one of the following schools: Doss Elementary School, Murchison Middle School, or Anderson High School. The nearby St. Theresa's Catholic School is a private school serving children from pre-k through middle school. The Children’s Center of Austin is a preschool located close to the neighborhood.
Jester residents participated in the City of Austin's Green Neighbor program and were awarded only the second “Green Neighborhood" status. There are 92 yards certified as wildlife habitats in this community!
Jester is one of those great neighborhoods where you'll find playgroups, an Easter egg hunt and many opportunities to be active with your neighbors. The community’s Jester Club has a club house, a wonderful playground, tennis and basketball courts and a great pool. Residents also have easy access to nature hikes in Balcones Canyonland Preserves and along Bull Creek.
There is an active home owners association sponsoring community Easter egg hunts, Halloween events, a 4th of July parade, and a neighborhood garage sale. The annual King of Jester bike race up the steep hill on Jester Blvd. is another crowd pleaser.
